Soulful Sunday

Hi to y'all

Another Sunday come and gone and I found my thoughts lingering around how this supposed day of rest is viewed.  There seems to be some trepidation, whereby the day becomes a day to overcome rather than enjoy.  I read recently that a large part of the population stay in the home treating it as a 'nothing' day as they edge toward the evening when Monday looms relentlessly.

No wonder feelings of low mood present themselves come Sunday evening and so I drifted towards feeling how sad this might be and such a waste.  I wonder if we could take a little time to embellish some change here and postpone the Sunday blues, looking at it with different eyes, as a day to do those things we often would love to do yet never have the time.

What is it you think about when you're busy?  What stops you doing it when you have the time?....Is
it a lack of knowing what you want to do... or how to go about doing it...?

Once we decide what it is we really would like to do we can begin and so if you are confused by what is is then think again about what you look forward to when you have the time.  Perhaps doing something knew that you've thought about trying before or if not look at a new found experience.  Maybe a small pursuit that doesn't cost too much, say introducing yourself back into the fresh air, walking, running, sightseeing, visiting parks, gardens or try out some volunteering to find direction.  The National Trust have some interesting places to see, if your pocket can stretch to it then it's worthwhile investing in an annual membership, therefore, saving on costs.  Joining a gym as a member or on a pay as you go system; all are beginnings in a new Sunday itinerary.

Laughter inspires us towards happiness and if practised sufficiently will increase our wellbeing.
Exercise does banish the blues significantly but when we feel low it can be hard to conjure up the motivation and energy to want to be bothered.  It does take an initial nudge to purchase your ticket to change and then remembering to get on board to arrive at your chosen mindset destination.  So nothing like the present time to take a small step forward and begin.

Some words popped into my head this morning whilst in the bathroom towelling myself dry.....

Sit down and invest some time
To peruse the mountainous landscape
That is 'life' in all its splendour
Start at the foot hills
Don't look upward just yet
Begin where your feet stand and
Take a step, then two or three
Out of breath a little, we take stock
Finding oneself on a plateau
Looking down on how far we've come
Our tears pooled, forming lakes below us
But we have survived and moved on
There is further to go but take a rest
Sit awhile to recharge our batteries
Camp out for the night until we feel rested
It is okay to give ourselves time
To relish self care strengthening our resolve
Enabling us to clamber up to reach the next horizon

Finding that Monday is now upon us and the week has begun, perhaps it's not so bad.... but hold on a sec... lest we forget and arrive sooner than we might think back into stifling Sunday...spare a little time for planning out your next Sunday edition so it becomes something to look forward to and to cherish when looking back and sharing precious memories that leave us warm and fuzzy without regret.

Just a reminder...

I take your leave now....until next time...creeping towards Sunday....and remember to smile out loud.

LAURA
