Mindful Monday

Do we wander through life looking to others to make our world ok?

Do we expect others to know what we are thinking and feeling?

Do we accept the part we play in our lives or even realise that we have a part to play?

Do we know our choices, what we want?

Can we speak our truth, real to ourselves and others?

Do we say 'Yes' when what we really want to say is 'No'?  Tying ourselves up in knots until we are so bound up within that we are unable to function....the jar is well and truly stuffed full to overflowing.

When we become tired,
                                    cannot sleep,
                                         sleep too much;
                                               feel stressed,
                                                     angry,
                                                          frustrated,
                                                              low in mood,
                                                                    perhaps depressed,
                                                                          lacking self confidence..............

Does this stem from unaddressed emotions and issues and if we continue to ignore what is going on in our lives?...we may find that we begin to find it hard to function.

Do we feel at ease in our skin, comfortable within the moment?

Are we running the treadmill of what will happen later, tomorrow, next week?

Finding a quiet space to listen, begin to hear what is around us right in that very second.  It may seem virtually impossible to remain in the now. if we can will we find peace of mind.

Are we afraid that if we try to change and nothing changes that this will shatter hope?

Or if we change and feel that all is well only to find that it isn't, how might this leave us?

In limbo without the wherewithal to know our left foot from our right...?

Could we lose our once thought sure footing, slipping on the slippery rocks of life?

It feels uncertain,
like plunging into the darkest
murky depths of black waters,
cold as ice,
chilling to the bone,
fighting self will,
to release

 To find peace
of mind would be so
sweet, yet we fight the good fight,
wave the flag of 'we know best',
fear knocks on our door
once too often and
makes itself comfortable

So, do we flush out the scary thoughts?
looking at them head on,
inviting their calling card,
asking them to put on their comfy slippers,
to sit down and dine with us

Do we turn our backs?
fear trailing on the back foot,
soldered to our waking walking moments,
unable to break the link
that chains us up
to the heavy cart load,
the dictionary of doom

Familiarity can bind us, even though it maybe rotten to the core, even if we want rid of it.  It is what we know and have come to be used to, kept us company for a long time....our ugly sister....yet, could 'change' be more grotesque?

How might we know this to be true or not?  Our imagination can be a killer, far outweighing what the truth may hold.

Will we have the courage to pull ourselves from the yoke?....yelling as we go until we reach a place that has not been introduced to us yet.  We may have been invited in before, finding we have stayed outside cold and shivering, thinking we know this drop in temperature well enough to feel some sort of control.

If we change, trying out a different landscape and don't like it, perhaps rather than moving back into the run down vehicle of our lives, we could take a left or right turn exploring a chapter of a different book.

When you begin to read a new story that isn't for you do you plod along hoping it gets better or do you discard it? put it back on the shelf? take it back to the library? try to find some other alternative that fits, that is more exiting, gripping....a page turner!!!

Food for thought.....until next time.....
